Leadership with

hand and heart

Hello!

So, why technology? It all started with an Apple Mac.

I was the child who loved to get hands-on, whether I was fixing computers at the local school or teaching myself to type professionally. I initially had my sights set on TV, but my curiosity led me to a different kind of screen. It was during a year in the industry that I realized my calling wasn’t just in technology, but in problem-solving and making things work better for people.

I’ve always been driven by curiosity;  the need to understand how things tick. I thrive on the kind of challenges that get my hands dirty, like helping the AA launch a product in six weeks after a cyberattack.

But for me, the most valuable part of my job is helping people flourish. I get a huge amount of satisfaction from mentoring, coaching, and watching my team members navigate their own successful paths.

I have a pretty dry sense of humour and a nerdy love for details, often to the point of figuring things out on my own time just because I’m curious. This gives me the confidence to stand behind my work and my team.

If you ever want to get me talking, ask me about my home office setup. I’m a bit of a geek for fast internet, which might explain the point-to-point WiFi system I built to deliver 700mbps to my garden shed… even if it only needs to go 50 meters.

Life outside work

I’m a proud dad to two daughters and a husband to a wonderful wife. At our house, I’m happily outnumbered; it’s me and our male cat, Oreo, against my wife, our two girls, a cocker spaniel named Lottie, and seven chickens. (The ratio is 2: 11, but who’s counting?)

Funnily enough, I never wanted a cat. But three years ago, my wife caught me in the act of rescuing a stray kitten from our log shed with some tinned mackerel, and the rest is history.

When I’m not at my desk, you can find me rolling up my sleeves to help out in the community. Whether it’s cleaning up the local Bourne River, responding to medical emergencies as a volunteer, or as an Associate Governor at my youngest daughter’s primary school.
